Cedar Falls Utilities (CFU) is located in Cedar Falls, Iowa.  CFU operates a municipally-owned Communications Utility providing high-speed data and cable television services to its customers.    CFU is constructing a fiber-to-the-premise system over approximately 204 miles.  It will be GPON architecture, combination of overhead and underground placement, installation of various fiber optic equipment, and new infrastructure overlay.  CFU will evaluate bids for two different project timelines -- one for the years 2010-2012 and the other for 2010-2015.  Bids will be received until 2:00 p.m. on May 17, 2010.  Contractors not having worked with CFU prior will be required to submit evidence of qualifications to perform competent completion of a project of similar magnitude.  Pre-qualification of bidders is preferred, but not required.  Bidders who are not pre-qualified risk disqualification on the basis of objective criteria determined by CFU.  If interested in obtaining copies of the plans and specifications, please provide project histories, locations and references.  Questions may be directed to Jody Connor at jconnor@cfunet.net or call (319) 268-5380.
