Gilberto was born in Argentina, where he graduated as an Industrial Engineer in 1976 from UCA Buenos Aires, with an Honor Diploma and was granted the CAI  “Patricio Shanley Award for Overall Engineering Studies Performance” in 1977. He also got his post-Graduate title in Advanced Management from UNC Chapel Hill USA in 1999.

Gilberto served his Military Duties in 1972 in the Argentine Army, based in the 10th Infantry Division in Buenos Aires. He later acted as Head of  Practical Studies in Industrial Processing and Transports, a subject matter he taught at UCA’s Industrial Engineering College till 1978. In that same year he married his lovely -now wife for 32 years- Cecilia with whom he has a daughter. 

His love for Aeronautics got him the Argentine Private Pilot License in 1970, and in the USA in 1994, when he also became and active member of the Experimental Aircraft Association.

Since 1975, Gilberto occupied several positions in multinational companies like Rheem, The Austin Co., Atlas Copco, Raychem and Tyco Electronics (now TE Connectivity), gathering experience in Manufacturing, Project Management, Product Management, Marketing/Business Development, and Sales.

He has spent 29 years with TE Connectivity in several positions in Argentina, Spain, ASIA, and the USA where he is based now. He is presently serving as Regional Sales Mgr. for Mexico /Central America and the Caribbean, while also coordinating sales into Telmex Internacional as a Global Account Director and supporting Broad/Band Connectivity Business Development for Telecom Networks across LATAM. Gilberto has now over 24 years of experience in Telecommunications.  

His studies and involvement with international business got him speaking fluent English, Spanish and Portuguese, as well as business French and Italian.

Gilberto became an active member of the Fiber To The Home Council in 2008, and is also a Certified Fiber Installer by the Electronics Technicians Association International.

Together with a group of US and Latin American professionals Gilberto launched the LATIN AMERICA Chapter of the FTTH Council, where he serves as the Chairman for the Technology Committee since April 2009. He was awarded the 2009 FTTH Council “Photon” distinction for his dedicated efforts to establish FTTH in LATAM.
