Portland Workshop to Discuss Fiber-Enabled Broadband and its Economic Benefits for Communities

WASHINGTON, DC - Leaders of the fiber to the home (FTTH) industry will gather in Portland, Oregon this month for a broadband workshop that will highlight the high-bandwidth, all-fiber telecommunications networks that are being deployed in the Pacific Northwest region.

The full-day of presentations and discussion has been organized by the national Fiber-to-the-Home Council, a group that promotes the expansion of faster networks.  It will take place on Wednesday, March 28, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Portland.

Canada Joins Global Ranking of FTTH Countries

Munich, 16 February 2012 – With their FTTH deployments ramping up, Canada and Malaysia have joined the list of economies where at least one percent of households are connected to all-fiber networks, according to the global fiber to the home councils.

The annual ranking, which tracks global deployment of fiber networks, was released today at the conclusion FTTH Council Europe’s annual conference.

All-Fiber Network Deployment Showing New Level of Activity in Canada and Mexico

(ORLANDO, FL)  More than 7.6 million North American homes now receive their Internet, video and/or voice services over end-to-end fiber networks, according to a report commissioned by the Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) Council.

The figure reported by market analysis firm RVA LLC showed an increase of 1.15 million FTTH households over the past year, for an annual gain of 18 percent in the number of homes served by fiber to the home networks.
